About us

Parrot people, through and through

WetCoast Pet Care was built by bird owners who couldn't find the kind of care they trusted for their own parrots. So we created it.

Our story

Why we started

Most pet boarding options aren't designed with parrots in mind. Parrots are intelligent, sensitive, and highly social — they notice changes in routine, they pick up on stress in their environment, and they need handlers who can read their body language. A dog kennel or a general pet-sitting service simply isn't equipped for that.

WetCoast Pet Care was founded in Victoria, BC by a team of experienced parrot owners and handlers who wanted to offer something different: a small, focused service where every bird is known by name, every handler understands avian behaviour, and every stay is as calm and enriching as possible.

We work with a wide range of species — from small parrotlets and lovebirds to African Greys, Amazons, Cockatoos, and large macaws. We understand that each species has its own temperament, communication style, and care requirements, and we tailor our approach accordingly.

How we work

What guides every interaction

Species knowledge

We've worked hands-on with dozens of parrot species and stay current with avian care best practices. We know the difference between a relaxed bird and a stressed one.

Low-stress handling

We never rush. Every interaction is on the bird's terms. We use calm voices, deliberate movements, and read each bird's signals before proceeding.

Honest communication

We'll tell you exactly how your bird is doing — including if something concerns us. You'll never get a vague 'all good' when there's something worth knowing.

Small by design

We deliberately limit the number of birds we board at any one time. Fewer birds means more attention, less noise, and a calmer environment for everyone.

Ready to meet us?

We encourage a meet-and-greet before your first boarding stay — it's a chance for your bird to get comfortable with us, and for us to learn about their personality and routine.
